“As a devoted disciple of the Sparklehorse universe, the opportunity to thank Mark and his contribution to the very fabric of my being is at this point, beyond the physical realm. Supporting a film that tells the story of such an otherworldly artist and to help spread the word of this genius and his art, is the very least I can do.” – Oliver
Oliver will play a set of both Sparklehorse songs and his own.
Oliver is a Bristol based artist, signed to Howling Owl Records. His debut album, A Brief Introduction To Unnatural Lightyears gained huge critical acclaim from The Guardian, labelling the album “astonishing” and NME, who described him as “a Nick Drake For The 21st Century”.
Oliver Wilde now returns with his third full length album – Post-Frenz Container Buzz. A bombastic and kaleidoscopic journey of synth laden multi-coloured fuzzpop. Tread carefully in to Oliver Wilde’s bewitching world because you’ll need your wits about you. His extraordinary songs are as dark as they are uplifting, as unsettling as they are soothing and as harrowing as they are hauntingly beautiful. Getting lost their warm wooziness is easy, but the deeper you delve in to their sensual layers of carefully-orchestrated, analogue-aided electronica, the more they reveal. Emerging with your emotions unscathed isn’t an option. He has been hailed a modern-day Nick Drake and compared to everyone from Beck and Bright Eyes to MBV and Deerhunter.
"A melodist of rare talent, but he cannot resist setting what he comes up with to soundscapes that disorientate, as much as they ensnare. They possess a beauty both strange and captivating"
