Jeffrey Martin at The Glee Online Stream

Originally from San Antonio, TX, Jeffrey Martin has called the Northwest home for a long time. An Internationally touring songwriter, he has released three full length albums and one EP to date. A chance encounter with a promoter at a bar show in a Eugene, OR landed him the opportunity to open for some nationally touring musicians, namely Sean Hayes, David Wilcox, Tracy Grammer. In 2014 he signed with Fluff and Gravy Records in Portland, OR.

While Martin pursued music, he was working through graduate school, becoming a high school English teacher. From 2012 – 2014 he substitute taught in between short musical tours, and from 2014-2016 he taught full time, cramming his music touring into weekends, and summer, spring, and winter breaks. Although he loved teaching, he felt that he couldn’t rightfully encourage his students to pursue their dreams at all cost if he wasn’t willing to risk the same for his own. He has been touring full time since 2016 and has no plans to stop.
Since working as a teacher he has toured the US and Europe multiple times, showcased as Folk Alliance International, played at multiple festivals including Rocky Mountain Folks, Kerrville Folk. He has been invited to share shows with the likes of Joe Pug, Gregory Alan Isakov, Jeffrey Foucault, Sean Hayes, Peter Mulvey, Amanda Shires, David Wilcox, Ruth Moody, Caitlin Canty, and others.

Jeffrey Martin is interested in the stories we can tell in songs. He freely admits to only learning guitar well-enough to sing to it and has always been much more interested in the lyrics than the notes.

One Go around, his latest release with Fluff and Gravy Records, is a heavy and gritty telling of stories that feel especially poignant amidst the turmoil of recent times. Gregory Alan Isakov called it, “Another brilliant record from one of the best writers out there– beautiful, brutal, and honest.”
One Go Around was produced by Tyler Fortier in Eugene, Oregon. Fortier brilliantly supports Martin’s sparse songs with just enough instrumentation to make these songs hang around in your ears long after they’ve ended.
In 2014 Jeffrey Martin released his first album with Fluff and Gravy Records, entitled Dogs in the Daylight. No Depression Magazine had this to say about the album: “Dogs in the Daylight is as close to a masterpiece as a folk album by an emerging singer-songwriter can get.”
Prior to signing with Fluff and Gravy Records, Martin self-released one full length album, Gold in the Water 2009, and one EP Build a Home 2012.
