David Kay is an exceptional comic. Nowhere in the country, will you find anyone with such slow, quirky, unorthodox style, and such a unique blend of extra-ordinary observations and ultra-ordinary situations. David is one of the most original, imaginative, surreal and – most importantly – downright funny comics currently performing in Scotland.

David is no stranger to the Edinburgh festival and has been performing at Edinburgh every year since 1998.  He followed up a critically acclaimed solo show debut solo Fringe Show at the 2002 Edinburgh Festival , “David Kay : Some Like a Scone” with “David Kay : Fireball”. He is a regular at the Glasgow Comedy Festival  performing sell out solo shows in 2006, 2009 and 2010.

In 2005 David made a successful debut at the Kilkenny Comedy Festival in Ireland.

David can also be seen acting in TV comedies The Old Guys (BBC1 Network), Rab C Nesbitt (BBC2 Network) and Tank Commander (BBC2 Scotland).

David has recently enjoyed a successful debut series on BBC Radio 4 appearing in “Modrin McDonald : 21^st Century wizard” (The Comedy Unit), playing the lead role as Modrin a 2,000 year old wizard. The series was co-written by David and Gavin Smith.

In 2008 David starred in ‘Freedom’ (North Inch Productions) a sitcom pilot for BBC Radio Scotland. Freedom was written by David and Moray Hunter. David also composed the main theme and music stings for the show.

David played the part of Rudolph in the Sony nominated Radio 4 comedy sitcom ‘Fags, Bags and Mags’ (The Comedy Unit). In 2006 he played the main supporting role in ‘Welcome to Strathmuir’ (Absolutely), a half hour sitcom pilot for BBC2 Scotland. In 2006 he was one of the main performers in the Sony nominated ‘North by North North’ a radio sketch show for BBC Radio Scotland. In 2000 co-wrote “Down the Road with Jack Valentine” with Raymond Weir, which was broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland.

David has continued to move from cult performer to fully-fledged phenomenon on the comedy scene. With two appearances on BBC1’s Live Floor Show and two tours of the Scottish Highlands as part of The Best of Scottish Comedy show and The Stand Comedy Club Highland Tour , his act has gone from strength to strength as it reaches the parts that most comedians fear to tread.

Bizarre but accessible, slow-paced but quick-thinking, David Kay is one of the most unique – and certainly most hilarious – acts on the circuit today.
