Al Porter at The Glee Glasgow

Al Porter is one of Ireland’s most colourful comics. Only two years on the comedy scene, Al’s popularity established itself quickly.
He has recently made his UK television debut on BBC’s Live At The Apollo. Appearing along side Noel Fielding and Dane Baptiste.
At the age of twenty-three, he is regarded as a prolific young comedian and radio presenter, destined to become the most talked about acts in the country.

On weekdays he co-presents Drive-by with Colm Hayes on the national broadcaster, RTE while at weekends, he’s gigging at premier festivals like The Cat Laughs and Iveagh Gardens. He’s recently performed with comedians such as Jack Dee, Jason Byrne, and Ardal O Hanlon and he supported UK comic Katherine Ryan on her London tour dates.

Al was the youngest comedian ever to headline Dublin’s 1,200-seater venue, Vicar Street – selling out three shows in 2015 with his outrageous stand up and live band! Later in 2015, he embarked on a nationwide tour of Ireland, including The Cork Opera House and The Galway Town Hall Theatre.

He is a regular contributor on Irish television and was the youngest comedian ever to appear as a guest on the legendary Late Late Show. He has also performed on The Saturday Night Show, and guested on Hey Ho Let’s Go and Next Week’s News; he also performed his own satirical news segment on Republic of Telly for the duration of its 2014 season.

Al’s regular radio appearances include BBC NI’s panel show The Blame Game alongside Neil Delamere and Colin Murphy; and he recently recorded a series comedy monologues for a brand new TV show also for BBC NI.

As an Actor Al is an outrageous and vivacious performer, Al has been resident Panto Dame and comic lead at the Olympia Theatre for the past 11 years . He has once again played the Dame this panto season in ‘Freezin’ at the Olympia. In 2009 Al was the overall winner of the regional School of Music and Drama Excellence Award in Leinster. In 2010 he won the same award for a second time.
