March – The Three Amigos: Jim Rosenthal, Nick Owen & Pat Murphy
The Three Amigos – Jim Rosenthal, Nick Owen and Pat Murphy – have remained staunch friends after first meeting at BBC Birmingham more than 30 years ago. Now they are together on stage for the first time for a light-hearted evening drawing on their deep knowledge of sport and the media.
Jim Rosenthal progressed from local radio to hosting some of the greatest sporting events in the world for ITV, including 8 football World Cups, two Olympic games, Formula One, boxing and England’s unforgettable Rugby World Cup Final victory in Australia in 2003.
Nick Owen was part of the breakfast television revolution, settling down on the sofa with Anne Diamond on TV-AM and Good Morning Britain. That was followed by a successful stint on the BBC’s Good Morning With Anne and Nick. Luton Town director Nick has also presented at the Olympics and the World Cup and is now the face of Midlands Today.
Pat Murphy is a much loved commentator who has been part of the legendary Test Match Special team. He has also followed the ups and downs of our local football teams as the BBC’s Midlands Football Correspondent, and has penned more than 40 books including biographies of Brian Clough and Ian Botham.
Adrian Goldberg will be trying to get a word in edgeways and recording the event for his podcast, Adrian Goldberg’s Talk Show.
