Tom Robinson first became known as a musician and LGBT activist with the Tom Robinson Band (TRB). The band’s Top 5 debut release 2-4-6-8 Motorway became one of the landmark singles of the UK punk era. Other hits included Glad To Be Gay, Up Against The Wall and the debut album Power In The Darkness

As a solo artist Tom had further hits with War Baby and Atmospherics: Listen To The Radio, and co-wrote songs with Peter Gabriel, Elton John and Dan Hartman.  His last studio album Only The Now (2015) featured guests such as Billy Bragg, John Grant and Ian McKellen and was followed by festival dates including Latitude, Green Man and headlining the Left Field stage at Glastonbury.

As a radio broadcaster Tom hosts three shows a week on BBC Radio 6 Music, served for 10 years on the Ivor Novello Awards committee and was awarded a fellowship of LIPA in recognition of his support for new music with BBC Introducing.

Tom’s debut album Power In The Darkness was launched 40 years ago in Victoria Park, London in front of 80,000 people at Rock Against Racism‘s legendary Carnival Against The Nazis. The album went gold in the UK and Japan and was followed by a 28-date UK tour with the (then unknown) Stiff Little Fingers as guest support act.

October 2018 sees the 40th anniversary of that breakthrough tour – and Tom once again hits the road performing the entire Power In The Darkness album. Tom’s incendiary live quartet features Faithless drummer Andy Treacey, Richard Ashcroft guitarist Adam Phillips, keyboard virtuoso Jim Simmons and Tom himself on bass and lead vocals.
